Once you've been diagnosed with ESRD your nephrologist will present you with a variety of renal replacement therapy options including, dialysis, transplant and in some cases, palliative care. Dialysis is a treatment that cleans waste products out of the blood once your kidneys no longer can. Through dialysis, you can live a long and high quality life.
There are two types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
Hemodialysis can be performed in a dialysis center or in your home. Peritoneal dialysis is performed in your home.
Another option for renal replacement therapy is a kidney transplant. Learn more about your treatment options by visiting each treatments page.
